2007 - 2008

As an inner city site with significant industrial heritage the development was destined to be a complex project with many contributing design challengers to consider. PDG were appointed by Lindsay Bennelong Developments to undertake full landscape architectural services for the project from concept design to construction review. The design process was required to consider the proposed building heights and orientation, existing landscape character, industrial heritage overlay, surrounding urban fabric, complex infrastructure, available views, micro-climatic conditions, privacy for residents and local government and infrastructure authority requirements.
Key features in the landscape works include the 9-metre wide through-site link that provides an important visual and physical connection into the large civic space that is dedicated for public use. The civic space incorporates a significant public art installation which draws inspiration from the site’s previous industrial heritage. Working in close collaboration with DJRD Architect’s and public artist’s Milne & Stonehouse from concept through to completion allowed for the successful integration of the built form, public art and place making strategies. The result has delivered on the promise to create a highly desirable urban destination that is enjoyed by residents and the greater community.
